OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is quite simple, and is summed up in the following quote (composed by Senegalese Ecologist, Baba Dioum):
In the end, we conserve only that which we love
We love only that which we understand
and we understand only that which we are taught
If we don't know about something (are ignorant of it), how can we possibly be expected to care about it, much less look after it? In South Africa, we lead increasingly urban lifestyles, which means that we have proportionately less opportunities to learn about our natural environment - we therefore need to be taught about it.
At Centurus Colleges, we believe in giving our children as many opportunities as possible to learn about the environment in which we live. Our ultimate goal is to foster an understanding of why it is vital for us all to join together and do what we can to conserve our environment.
Centurus Colleges operates their environmental education programme in association with Africa Nature Training (ANT).
Parents and members of the community are encouraged to give their input and expertise, wherever possible.
